26/11/2015 GNERC Resolution will Delay the Process of Water Supply Infrastructure Renewal in Rustavi, Marneuli and Gardabani
Rustavi Water Company has made an official statement in connection with GNERC resolution as of November 26 - On Change of Consumer Tariffs.
Rustavi Water Company management doesn’t agree with new reduced tariffs established at today’s GNERC meeting. The Commission has established a tariff for customers in Rustavi, Gardabani and Marneuli and it considers the tariff has not been calculated fairly.
As a result of GNERC unfair and wrong decision, Rustavi Water has become unprofitable company. It will impede the process of renewal of water supply and sewerage infrastructure in Rustavi.
The company inherited depreciated network – income from the tariff has been used for updating the network.
Against the background of Lari devalvation, when the company’s expenses have increased by 30 %, GNERC by using inadequate methodology, has taken a wrong decision and cut the tariff rate almost by 20 %. Such decision doesn’t serve the interests of the population as it will delay the process of infrastructure renewal in Rustavi.
Rustavi Water Company takes care of the customers’ interests. The company disagrees with GNERC resolution and it will take a legal action.
