“Georgian Water and Power“ company makes a statement for the population of Tbilisi saying that drinking water supplied to the population is absolutely safe.
Social networks have been spreading disinformation during the day about drinking water pollution in some districts of Tbilisi, in particular in Mtskheta street of Vake and Shanidze street of Mtatsminda district. Specialists of the company’s laboratories took samples of drinking water in both streets but no fact of drinking water pollution was established.
“Georgian Water and Power“ explains that drinking water supplied to the population has nothing in common with water of Vere River, as the capital city is supplied water from Aragvi gorge. Drinking water undergoes multiple treatment and filtration and is continuously controlled during 24 hours.
Specialists of laboratory of “Georgian Water and Power“ have been working in emergency mode until today taking samples of water throughout Tbilisi. Representatives of National Food Agency of Georgia and of National Center of Disease Control are also involved in laboratory tests of water. To ensure additional prevention “Georgian Water and Power“ is carrying out double chlorination of drinking water in the capital city.
