02/07/2014 ”Georgian Water & Power” showed its headworks to the Ecocamp arranged under the USAID program
“Georgian Water & Power” company showed today its headworks in Zhinvali and Aragvi Gorge to the students participating in Ecocamp arranged within the USAID Program of „INRMW-Georgia – Integrated Natural Resources Management in Watersheds of Georgia.
The ecocamps have been organized by an environmental NGO of CENN. It is a partner of the USAID program uniting 24 senior high school students of 6 municipalities of Georgia. The program helps young people to develop “Green Vision.” For this time they took interest in the issues related to sustainable management of water resources. “Georgian Water & Power” offered them informational tour to make them familiarized with such important water supply facilities as Zhinvalu hydraulic complex and Natakhtari water supply system. The company’s specialists provided tour guidance of the students. The Ecocamp participants observed main technological processes which Aragvi river water undergoes in the process of raw water transformation into drinking water to make sure that tap water is safe for consumption; they obtained theoretical information about drinking water quality in Tbilisi, its 24-hour monitoring and technical processes, related to the individual supply of drinking water to each consumer in Tbilisi.
