01/02/2015 Georgian Water and Power Issues Statement on Pipeline Damage in Vazha-Pshavela Avenue
Emergency crews of Technical Department of Georgian Water and Power have been mobilized in Vazha Pshavela Avenue in front of the so called Moduli building in # 1 Tavkhelidze Str., where earth collapsed on the territory of unearthed foundation of the house under construction. As a result of the collapse, main sewerage network, running nearby, was damaged. On the spot special equipment has been mobilized. For the purpose of carrying out works efficiently and promptly at present water supply has been discontinued to buildings # 78 b and 76 b, as well as to office of Georgian Unified Water Supply Company in Vazha Pshavela Avenue.
According to Georgian Water and Power information, company Bani Ltd was carrying out construction works. The company has not renewed technical permission issued for construction in 2007. In addition Bani Ltd. has not strengthened the unearthed foundation pit in compliance with the technical norms, which caused collapse of the earth and damage to the sewerage network of Georgian Water and Power.
By now the company’s emergency crews are intensely continuing urgent works for renewing the damaged sewerage network.
Georgian Water and Power will make every effort to promptly complete the works and renew water supply to the listed streets. Company Georgian Water and Power will provide additional information on renewal of water supply.
