28/06/2015 Georgian Water and Power Allocated GEL 100 000 for the Injured as a Result of Disaster
Company Georgian Water and Power has mobilized GEL 100 000 in the special fund for helping families injured as a result of disaster in Tbilisi.
Georgian Water and Power believes that for elimination of considerable damage caused by the disaster, only financial support is not sufficient and therefore it is willing to get involved with Tbilisi government in the construction process for restoring the damaged infrastructure.
The company, under the critical situation from night June 14 has been operating round-the-clock with intensified 35 technical crews per shift and in coordination with Tbilisi Municipality Services, continuing reconstruction works on the damaged water supply and sewerage networks. The company, at the earliest possible date, was able to eliminate damage on 5 main pipelines, efficiently carried out temporary measures for neutralization of aftereffects as a result of the damaged sewer. The company has eliminated more than 200 minor and medium faults on the networks.
Taking into consideration the critical situation up to present Georgian Water and Power lab specialists are working effectively, they take water samples in various sections of Tbilisi. Simultaneously, as a rule, water quality is tested in the lab after completing any work on the water supply networks. National Food Agency and National Center for Disease Control have been involved as well in laboratory tests.
Besides the company is always willing to render assistance to city services of Tbilisi Municipality during current works in the disaster zones, including Zoo area, where faults are very frequent.
Notwithstanding the company has suffered considerable loss as a result of the disaster, uninterrupted water supply and high quality drinking water have been maintained the city wide.
