22/09/2015 According to the decision of Charter of Journalistic Ethics the first principle of the Charter has been violated in relation with GWP
The council of Charter of Journalistic Ethics of Georgia discussed the statement of Georgian Water and Power company on 6 September, 2015 and made a decision that journalist Taya Ardoteli had violated in regard to GWP the first principle of the charter by her article“Downtown district with no water supply for a fortnight” (Rezonansi paper).
According to the first principle of the charter journalist shall respect the truth and the right of general public to receive correct information. Main emphasis of the above-mentioned article is the wording “journalist shall respect”, - explains the Charter.
„The journalist’s attempt to show respect for the general public and thoroughly verify the facts so that to publish truthful and correct information shall be evident. According to the common agreement correct is the information checked with two sources, identifying people, venue and event affected by the information…, - says the first principle of the Charter.
