16/08/2012 Intensive Rehabilitation Works are on in Gldani V and VII m/r
Today, Deputy CEO of Georgian Water and Power Ltd., Mr. Helmut Weidel, together with other managers of the Company, introduced rehabilitation works being in progress in V and VII m/r in Gldani to Nodar Sandukhadze, Head of Gldani-Nadzaladevi Administration.
Internal streets of the mentioned m/r of Gldani are on the list of those 150 streets of Tbilisi replacement of depreciated and obsolete networks is planned by Georgian Water and Power Ltd. In the both of the m/r there are rehabilitated as water supply so their branches. In V and VII m/r of Gldani there are replaces 5 080 m of depreciated water supply networks, there are installed 46 new locking-regulating valves and 6 new key wells. In VII m/r of Gldani total length of the networks to be replaces equals to 5 580 m, there are being installed 86 new locking-regulating valves and 4 new key wells for water supply. Except Gldani micro-regions at this stage the Company is simultaneously rehabilitating underground communications in about 20 streets of Tbilisi, among them, Chkondideli, Petre Bagrationi, Kekelidze, Navtlugi, Chovelidze, Araleti, Paliashvili, Tkviavi, Tsabadze and Mikeladze streets.
It’s the fourth year since the Company started rehabilitation works in the framework of a large-scale project “Rehabilitation of Tbilisi Streets Main Water Supply and Drainage Networks”. This year will include about 150 streets of the capital, general length of the networks to be rehabilitated equals to almost 90 km. The works commenced in April this year and their completion is planned by the end of October. At the moment water pipeline and sewage system rehabilitation works are completed in 89 streets. Including 2011, in the framework of the project, Georgian Water and Power has replaced more than 200 km old water pipeline and sewage systems in various districts of Tbilisi.
As the result of rehabilitation of street networks water supply for Tbilisi population will become more stable, losses will be significantly reduced which, in certain way, will support uninterrupted water supply for the capital.
