07/09/2012 Georgian Water and Power is preparing new Lilo reservoir for putting into operation
Georgian Water and Power company is preparing newly constructed Lilo reservoir for commissioning. It is a second new stand-by reservoir of drinking water which will be put in operation by the company one of these days. The works for connecting 10 000 cubic meters reservoir to the operative water supply network were attended by deputy CEO of GWP Ltd Helmut Weidel and deputy head of Isani-Samgori administration Besik Gazdeliani.
Construction of this facility which is important for Tbilisi water supply started in May of the current year and have been completed recently. Presently the company is carrying out preparation works to put in operation new facilities. Construction of the reservoir was carried out by Georgian Water and Power company within the limits of the project for the provision of continuous water supply of Tbilisi in order to create additional volumes of drinking water. The company used in the construction process such newest approaches which enabled it to carry out the work with the observance of the international standards in the shortest possible time. As a result of the performed works the seismic stability of the reservoir is maximally ensured.The newly rehabilitated second reservoir of 7500 cubic meters capacity Vazisubani I was commissioned by the company at the end of August.
Water supply was significantly improved after commissioning Lilo reservoir in Lilo, Vaziani Military and Saknavti settlements, Vaziani military unit, Lilo and Gamarjveba villages, Yumashev street, enterprises and facilities in Lilo. Further Georgian Water and Power is taking additional technical measures to ensure continuous water supply of the mentioned settlements and streets and create additional resources of drinking water. By the end of the current year the company will gradually install in Lilo and its adjacent settlements the up-to-date pressure regulators and automated control boosting pumping units, which will regulate pressure in accordance with the change of water consumption in automated mode. By commissioning new equipment the company will provide drinking water supply in specific settlements and streets by the end of year.
All complex technical measures taken by have one objective – to provide continuous water supply of Tbilisi, which will be provided in old administrative borders of Tbilisi by the end of 2012.
