23/05/2013 Sharing of Experience between GWP and Dutch Water Supply Companies
The delegation composed of the leading companies on Dutch water supply market has visited the important GWP facility for sharing of experience. The delegation was headed by Angel Samura, First Deputy Ambassador of Netherlands in Georgia. This event has been scheduled within the framework of the seminar - Holland Water Days - organized by Embassy of Netherlands.
The delegation from Holland has been guided by GWP managers and specialists. They have familiarized the delegation with the uniqueness of one of the important head work of Tbilisi water supply system and main principles of its operation. They focused their attention to treatment of raw water and ecologically safe methods and means of filtration which have been developed and introduced by specialists of Tbilisi water distribution company.
The Dutch delegation has been interested in monitoring system of water quality control as well and they have visited GWP central chemical and microbiological lab. The Dutch specialists has been especially interested whether the specific character of work of the Central lab meet the up-to-date requirements and whether they meet the international standards of quality control of drinking water. The data of the integrated study carried out by lab specialists has showed that all parameters of drinking water supplied to Tbilisi are much lower than the maximum permissible concentration and is absolutely safe for health and the water has good taste and is rich in different minerals.
GWP Central Chemical and Micrological Lab which obtained accreditation in compliance with ISO-17025 standard coordinates operating of other chemical labs of the company. Quality control of drinking water has been monitored uninterruptedly for chemical as well as microbiological parameters. The up-to-date equipment installed at the lab enable to accurately determine organic compounds – oil products, easily inflammable substances and pesticides, as well as sanitary and toxic indicators – alkali, alkali ground, level of strictly limited heavy metals or surface-active substances and cyanides. According to the analyses quality of drinking water provided to Tbilisi population has completely satisfied the national standards and WHO recommendations.
