08/12/2015 Georgian Water and Power Company commenced construction of Saguramo HPP
Georgian Water and Power company commenced the construction of new hydroelectric power plant in Saguramo village of Mtskheta municipality.
Georgian Water and Power company is the initiator of construction of Saguramo HPP as well as author of its design and will invest GEL 10,5 m in the construction of the HPP. TBC Bank accommodated the company with the loan of GEL 5.8 million to make provision for the construction.
Rated capacity of Saguramo HPP, the power plant with two units, will make up 4,4 MW, while the annual electric power production - 32 m kWh. Commissioning of Saguramo HPP is scheduled by November, 2016.
The construction works are in progress – the power plant foundation area is prepared, the turbine hall construction and pressure and diversionary pipings installation is going on at the moment. Presently the necessary formalities related to the construction are completed, specifically the memorandum and agreement have been executed with the government of Georgia, the environment impact assessment (EIA) and corresponding permit have been obtained, the construction permit has been issued by the Mtskheta municipality and the plan of connecting to energy system has been agreed with EnergoPro Georgia. Georgian Water and Power company is cooperating now with Austrian company of ANDRITZ HYDRO SAS to buy a turbine and other power units for the total cost of EUR 1,300 000.
The HPP will operate with equal capacity throughout the year. It will be possible to treat clean water transmitted through the HPP and use it for Tbilisi water supply purposes.
